Starstruck

It's all about film chez Commentbox tonight, all about film. Tonight's class was a 2-hour breakdown of the plot of a James Bond film, and I learnt a hell of a lot. Really!! There's a method to the box-office success of 007 and it taught me, yet again, to never underestimate popular culture. That being said...I have yet to sit through an entire James Bond film without falling asleep.

Here is a classic movie moment from MY crazy teenage years - the song I danced to in front of the mirror after watching "Starstruck" for the first time. The next day I went out and bought a striped shirt and red boots too.

But for my film of the imagination....I'd like to use another song for the final credits. It'll be a film about the power and glorious fun of friendships, about feeling free, not having to prove anything to anybody, and being beautiful inside and out. It'll be set in Australia, and all of the Hollywood celebrities will watch the film and feel ugly and boring compared to the characters in my story. It'll make every Hollywood starlet who's ever had a facelift feel really really ugly, and silly.

Simple really.

Now that is a film I would like to see! A sure bow office winner anywhere but the States eh? Talking about films ....tonight I am going with my daughters to see Harry Potter and the halfblood prince. They are great fans where as I am more or less along for the family fun of it....! My eldest
( now 17) acually read Harry Potter in english when she was only ten because she couldn`t wait until the translation in swedish hit the bookstores.

Take care
Jeanette

I loved that clip from the film but I shall spend the rest of the night singing the rude bits in response to the Angels chorus!

Oh PLEASE write a part for me too! I recently added Take A Long Line by the Angels to my ipod, I don't know how many times I saw that band in my Canberrian youth. Them and the Divinyls and the Radiators, rock on!

Double for your money.

I loved Starstruck. I always remember the girl peering into the mirror and saying to her brother "I've just washed my face and I can't do a THING with it." I've used that line myself on occasion.

I learn so much from you. Honestly. And come across films and books I've never heard of. I just now that this film would've worked for me - just like Pretty in Pink did...

Yeah, I loved loved loved start struck. I'm disappointed it hasn't ever turned up on telly. Like that great serious film I associate with it, Heatwave. Seen that??
